A Letter to Me

Dear Grace,

You have fought one helluva battle this year, honey.  You stood tall in the face of the storm.  Be proud of yourself.  But there are a few things that you need to remember going into this next year. Please listen and absorb… you need to hear this.  Here goes nothing.

You are enough.  Don’t let anyone make you feel that you are less than.

Get your gratitude on! You have much to be thankful for.

Your husband’s diagnosis is beyond your control.  You can help him on his journey, and you can be a good partner to him, but you can’t do the hard work for him. Be as helpful as you can but remember that he must captain his own ship and make his own decisions.

You need to learn to manage your stress in healthier ways.  Stress and poor health habits almost cost you your life this year.  Read that again, Grace.  This almost cost you your life!  Choose good health habits.

You will be okay.  Whatever happens, whatever life throws at you… you can handle this.  Remember what mom said.  You are STRONG.

Find what makes you feel alive and do that.  Do it often.  Life is too short.

Write, girl!  Put pen to paper and write your heart out.  Writing makes you feel good.  Do it for you.

Explore your spirituality this year.  This may be the answer to everything.

Be vulnerable and love deeply.  Don’t be a doormat, but don’t close off your heart either.

Set goals and chase them with everything you have.

Be gentle with yourself.  You’ve been through a lot.

You will find your sparkle, my dear.  I believe in you. Go into 2023 with wide eyes and an open heart.

Love,

Me

  1. Beautifully written dear lady, a heart crying out will attract accordingly. And I know its a hard journey, but that hardness has a gift and it is far beyond the presents received so far. Believe in you…and sing what has always been inside just waiting to be set free. Big hugs and go 2023 my friend. Hallelujah! 😀❤️🙏🏽

  2. Thank you for sharing!!.. wonderful words dictated by the heart (let your fingers do the walking and your heart do the talking 🙂 )… and as Roy Bennett said “Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” (Roy T. Bennett )… and there will no doubt be challenges in the future but you (and your husband) will overcome them and make 2023 a better year.. “My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze.. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny”. (Elaine Maxwell).. 🙂

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together”… (Marilyn Monroe).. 🙂

Hope you (and your husband) have the mostest wonderfulest Happiest New Year ever, each day filled with love and happiness and life is all that you wish for it to be, and until we meet again..

May the love that you give
    Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
    And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
    No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
    On your journey through life.

  3. Superb! Well written and very true. If you follow your own advice, it will serve you well. Keep your own council close. Do not let difficulties and hard times chase it from your mind.
